在合作贏得新交通樞紐競(jìng)賽之后,POLO與Archipelago的建筑師們,共同為梅赫倫(Mechelen)完成了這座能夠塑造城市形象的標(biāo)志性建筑。
Realising our competition-winning vision for a new mobility hub, POLO collaborated with architects from Archipelago to build an image-defining icon for Mechelen.
這座建筑不僅意味著一個(gè)新住宅區(qū)的興起,還暢想了這樣一個(gè)未來(lái):越來(lái)越多的建筑將被設(shè)計(jì)成具備功能靈活性的可變?nèi)萜鳌?/p>
Not only does this building mark the emergence of a new residential neighbourhood, it also imagines a future in which buildings are increasingly designed as adaptable containers prepped for functional flexibility.
當(dāng)人們從通往梅赫倫的主要干道之一駛向這座城市時(shí),駕車(chē)者便能看到一座引人注目的新建筑。這里設(shè)有500多個(gè)停車(chē)位,建筑面積近1.9萬(wàn)平方米。它在周邊低矮建筑的襯托下矗立著,成為城市邊緣一座謙遜的地標(biāo)。
When approaching Mechelen from one of the main access roads into the city, motorists are confronted with an eye-catching new building. Here we find more than 500 car parking spaces and nearly 19,000 square metres of built space. It rises up above the low-rise context to become a modest landmark at the edge of the city.
一個(gè)由菱形構(gòu)成的醒目外立面網(wǎng)格,包裹著這座堅(jiān)固的停車(chē)場(chǎng)建筑,仿佛在邀請(qǐng)司機(jī)們把車(chē)停好,轉(zhuǎn)而選擇更可持續(xù)的交通方式在城內(nèi)通行。
A striking facade grid of parallelograms envelops this sturdy car park structure, an open invitation for drivers to leave their car behind and transfer to a more sustainable mode of transport.
它鼓勵(lì)我們放慢腳步,去探索這片正在興起的街區(qū)——這里融合了過(guò)去與現(xiàn)在,作為一個(gè)獨(dú)特門(mén)戶(hù)通往歷史悠久又充滿(mǎn)活力的梅赫倫。這片新街區(qū)的城市形態(tài),與附近老城區(qū)密集的城市肌理形成鮮明的對(duì)比。
It encourages us to slow down and explore the emerging neighbourhood here — a blend of past and present, a unique gateway into this historically rich yet vibrant city. Here we establish new forms of urbanity which play in tandem with the dense fabric of the old city centre nearby.

被包裹的空曠空間
Wrapped emptiness
外立面由大型預(yù)制構(gòu)件搭建而成,將立柱以及邊梁整合其中。樓板懸掛在這個(gè)具有雕塑感和承重功能的斜交網(wǎng)格結(jié)構(gòu)之中。這個(gè)外立面結(jié)構(gòu)僅覆蓋建筑的長(zhǎng)軸方向立面,建筑兩端較短的立面則保持開(kāi)放,像一個(gè)景框朝向周邊環(huán)境。
The facade is built up out of large prefabricated elements, integrating the columns as well as an edge beam. The floor slabs are suspended within this sculptural load-bearing diagrid. This facade structure covers only the longitudinal elevations of the building, opening up the end elevations for framed views of the surroundings.
設(shè)計(jì)通過(guò)將結(jié)構(gòu)體系集中設(shè)置在建筑四周,解放了內(nèi)部布局,使得寬敞的平面具有靈活的布局和豐富的可能性。這樣的布局很好地適應(yīng)了停車(chē)樓對(duì)布局效率的要求,同時(shí)也讓建筑能夠承載各種各樣的其他功能。
By concentrating the structural system along the perimeter, we free up the layout and create large, flexible floor plans. These are ideal for fitting in efficient car parking layouts but also open up the building for a wide variety of other functions.
無(wú)柱且無(wú)突出橫梁的開(kāi)放式樓板呈現(xiàn)出簡(jiǎn)約的風(fēng)格,與停車(chē)場(chǎng)功能的基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施性質(zhì)相契合——但這并不妨礙日后對(duì)該結(jié)構(gòu)進(jìn)行裝修或“裝扮”,以適應(yīng)其他活動(dòng)需求。
The current minimalism of open floor plates without columns or protruding beams befits the infrastructural nature of the car parking function — but this does not prevent the structure from being furnished or “dressed up” to suit other activities in the future.
也是出于這個(gè)原因,結(jié)構(gòu)設(shè)計(jì)得較為有余量——方案預(yù)留了一定的空間,因?yàn)樵O(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)知道,如果設(shè)計(jì)得過(guò)于貼合某種特定需求,最終可能會(huì)對(duì)使用產(chǎn)生限制。這是一種在建筑耐久性方面具有遠(yuǎn)見(jiàn)的做法,從長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)來(lái)看是有益的。
For this reason the structure is over-dimensioned: we build in margins, knowing that what is made to measure to an excessive degree may ultimately prove constrictive. This is a kind of generous durability that pays dividends in the long term.
形態(tài)依功能而定
Formed to function
建筑的較高樓層設(shè)置了辦公功能區(qū),這體現(xiàn)了建筑結(jié)構(gòu)的靈活性。在建筑頂部,有一個(gè)種有樹(shù)木的屋頂花園,經(jīng)此通勤的人們可以在這里放松身心,同時(shí)遠(yuǎn)眺梅赫倫市的全景。
The upper floors accommodate an office function, showcasing the building structure’s flexibility. On top we find a roof garden with trees where office workers can relax while taking in panoramic views of the city of Mechelen.
最高的停車(chē)樓層是一片開(kāi)放式空間,也可被改造為面向公眾的活動(dòng)或休閑場(chǎng)所。在梅赫倫市的語(yǔ)境中,這種空中公共空間是一種獨(dú)特的存在。
The highest car parking floor is an open space also which can be appropriated to become an event or hangout space for the general public. This kind of elevated public space is a unique proposition within the context of the city of Mechelen.
位于地面層的超市順應(yīng)周邊新道路的曲線走勢(shì),引導(dǎo)騎行者和行人前往附近的住宅區(qū),或通過(guò)新建的橋梁前往迪耶勒河(Dijle river)對(duì)岸的紅十字廣場(chǎng)(Rode-Kruisplein)。超市作為平臺(tái)界面連接著周邊環(huán)境與上方的停車(chē)樓層,為環(huán)境增添了活力,也起到了一定的管控作用。
The supermarket on the ground floor follows the curves of the new paths and roads around it, guiding cyclists and pedestrians to the nearby residential developments and over the new bridges towards the Rode-Kruisplein (Red Cross Square) across the Dijle river. It functions as a podium interface between the context and the parking floors above and adds liveliness and a measure of social control to the surroundings.
相較于較高樓層的斜交網(wǎng)格外立面那種適合遠(yuǎn)距離觀賞的大尺度幾何造型,“歡迎廣場(chǎng)”(Welkomstplein)邊柔和的曲線以及天然石材飾面,帶來(lái)了更多的人性化尺度感。
Compared to the large scale geometry of the diagrid facade of the upper floors, designed to be readable from large distances, here the gentle curves and natural stone cladding add a more human scale next to the Welkomstplein (“Welcome Square”).
由Vogt設(shè)計(jì)的景觀綠色基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施,從這個(gè)新廣場(chǎng)延伸至周邊區(qū)域。它鞏固了這個(gè)交通樞紐作為街區(qū)功能核心的地位,人們及各類(lèi)活動(dòng)從這里向外擴(kuò)散,如鮮活的血液讓這片城市新街區(qū)煥發(fā)生機(jī)。
From this new square a landscaped green infrastructure — designed by Vogt — extends into the district around it. It consolidates this mobility hub as the functional heart of the neighbourhood, from where people and activities are distributed, the lifeblood animating this vibrant new addition to the city.
